Tool Description:

WinSystems' MCM-DX is an Intel 80486-based PC-AT compatible industrial computer on the STD Bus. This unit combines the processing capability of the Intel486(TM) processor and vast library of PC-DOS software with the I/O interfaces of the IEEE 961 STD Bus or the PC/104 Bus.
Based on the STD Bus form factor, the MCM-DX provides a common computer core from which the customer can add off-the-shelf or user-designed STD Bus or PC/104 expansion modules to match their exact application. The two expansion methods allow the application to conform to open standard architectures without having to pay for expensive proprietary solutions.
The board operates at speeds to 80 MHz with up to 16MBytes of parity-checked, dynamic RAM. An onboard 32-pin EPROM socket supports the BIOS and extensions plus up to a 440 KByte bootable ROM Disk. The board integrates the basic AT peripheral complement including the keyboard controller, 16 channel interrupt controller, real-time clock, 3 counter/timers, DMA controllers, and speaker port making the unit 100% PC/AT software compatible.
The MCM-DX features two serial channels each with RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 interface levels, a entronics parallel I/O port, controller for 2 floppy disks, and IDE hard disk interface. Both a precision power-fail reset circuit and watchdog timer were added to make the MCM-DX suitable for use in remote or unattended industrial applications.
This unit supports MS/DOS and QNX as well as other real-time executives and popular AT-compatible operating systems. The unit is so compatible that it will PC/AT diagnostic software; however, the MCM-DX can work with DOS and BIOS software as a complete standalone single board computer. As a fully functional PC/AT compatible platform, the MCM-DX will execute programs without disks, keyboards, or monitors.
